Private and Magnet Schools will be evaluated on a case per case basis depending on the field, enrollment, and competitive balance factors to allow for fair play.
Number of games determined by teams entered in each division (For example, 7A may consist of three pools were as 4A-1A may be a one pool round robin).
Schools will compete in the classification of the high school in which they feed into. If their high school doesn’t have a classification, then they will be considered on a case by case basis.
Elementary schools may compete, but they must play in the classification of the middle school or high school in which they feed. Again, special cases will be addressed on a case by case basis.
If multiple pools are needed, seeding for the pools is snaked with it based off of number of wins by a schools A team at NAQT events during the season. If no NAQT matches have been played, it will go back to the most recent season were matches were played. If the team is a new school or team, then they will be randomized at the end of the team list
Each team must bring a buzzer set and reader. A coach may read for a team. If the team doesn’t have a buzzer set, they must let the Tournament Director know as soon as they register
Registration is on NAQT, and is uncapped.
If a division has multiple pools, the championship be determined by a playoff bracket of 4-8 teams depending on the number of teams in the division. Playoff brackets are ranked based on win-loss record followed by ppg, powers, and negs.
If a division is a single pool, the two teams with the best record will play a best of 3 series with the first meeting between the counting (i.e. one team will effectively have a loss already and will need to win two in a row for the championship).
Official tournament rules and procedures will be posted online by the end of October. We hope to see you there!
